Details: Full time, Days, 37.50 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 8:00AM to 4:00PM, four evening shifts and one Saturday or Sunday shift required per month.

Pay Scale: $26.78 – $30.30 per hour

Locations: GEF locations throughout Edmonton (travel between other GEF sites is required, mileage paid)

Typical Duties: Reporting to the Life Enrichment Supervisor, the Activity & Wellness Coordinator (AWC) is focuses on resident engagement and satisfaction by committing to empowering residents with their individual and group recreation and leisure needs. The AWC works to foster a sense of community by collaborating with and coordinating volunteers and residents who contribute to programs, activities, and events. With support from the Life Enrichment Supervisor, the AWC develops initiatives relevant to the needs of the community they serve, striving to positively influence residents’ quality of life. The AWC is responsible for evaluating the community’s activity and wellness needs, facilitating, and promoting programming based on the interests of the residents, while reflecting the seven dimensions of wellness. GEF works to build vibrant communities and an AWC contributes to this through establishing supportive relationships with residents, facilities, staff, volunteers and partner or community agencies. In addition, AWCs are asked to manage other site-specific duties as assigned.

Experience/Education Preferences:

  • Diploma or Degree in recreation or related field is required.
  • Recreation Therapy is considered an asset, but not required for the level of housing that GEF offers.
  • Minimum 1-2 years’ experience in planning and implementing activity and wellness programs is desired.
  • Strong English communication skills, both written and verbal are required.
  • Strong computer skills in Microsoft Office are required.

We are passionate about supporting the quality of life for seniors in every facet of our operations, and we are searching for a like-minded professional to fill our Site Leader – Housing & Client Services role. 

The Site Leader – Housing & Client Services plays a vital role in supporting the Portfolio Manager to ensure that the organization’s Mission, Vision, Values, and Quality of Life Philosophy are reflected in all aspects of operations, client relations, and team management. This position is instrumental in fostering positive relationships with residents, tenants, staff, families, and external partner agencies, promoting a sense of community, and ensuring a high standard of service delivery.

 

This role requires a strong combination of leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills, as well as a deep understanding of GEF’s commitment to delivering exceptional service to residents and tenants. By building and maintaining positive relationships and ensuring compliance with standards, the Site Leader – Housing & Client Services helps to create an environment where all clients can thrive.

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Support GEF’s operational objectives by ensuring that initiatives and processes are effectively communicated and implemented at the portfolio and site level.
  • Support respectful, dignified, and compassionate interactions with clients, their families, and staff, ensuring transparency and fairness in service delivery.
  • Ensure the effective management of client files and records, including tenancy documentation, occupancy reporting, and housing data in YARDI.
  • Support Human Resource functions at the site level, including staff training, performance management, coaching, and attendance management.
  • Champion and actively participate in the implementation of GEF’s Health, Safety, and Wellness Program initiatives, ensuring compliance with Alberta’s Occupational Health and Safety Regulations.
  • Oversee day‑to‑day site operations, including service delivery, resident engagement, community activities, and coordination with maintenance teams for repairs and building upkeep.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with residents, tenants, families, staff, and community partners to enhance client experience and community vibrancy.
  • Assist with budget monitoring, financial accountability, and resource management to support operational sustainability.
  • Support compliance with legislative and regulatory requirements, including inspections, audits, and housing standards.
  • Participate in conflict resolution, addressing concerns and complaints with fairness, empathy, and professionalism.
  • Other site duties as assigned by the Portfolio Manager or designate.

Qualifications and Competencies:

  • Post‑secondary Degree is preferred.
  • Minimum three (3) years’ experience in a supervisory or management role; experience working with seniors or in housing/social services is an asset.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office; familiarity with YARDI or other property management software is an asset.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to handle sensitive situations with professionalism and tact.
  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills, with the ability to build respectful, compassionate relationships with residents, tenants, families, staff, and partners.
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities, including staff coaching, performance management, and fostering a positive team culture.
  • Strong organizational and time‑management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and maintain smooth day‑to‑day operations.
  • Effective problem‑solving and conflict‑resolution skills, with the ability to assess issues, identify solutions, and work toward timely resolution.

Requirements: 

  • Must have a valid driver’s license and own vehicle and submit a copy of the driver’s license upon request.
  • Must have the ability to flex hours of work for some evenings, nights, and weekends.

  • Perform general building maintenance (e.g., drywall repairs, zone valve replacements, thermostat maintenance)
  • Handle minor plumbing repairs
  • Track and complete work orders
  • Assist Maintenance Technicians as required

Experience/Education Preference:

  • Plumbing & HVAC Experience is desired.
  • High school diploma or equivalent is required. Previous work experience in a similar occupation or applicable education is desired.
  • 5th Class Power Engineering certificate is an asset.
  • Must have valid Class 5 driver’s license and satisfactory driver’s abstract.

Typical Duties: The Housing Placement Administrator (HPA) supports the transition of seniors into an appropriate GEF housing program, ensuring that they are treated in a dignified manner, that the intake process is respectful of applicant’s choices, and ensuring transparency and accountability in the organization’s management of its housing units.

Reporting to the Community Support Manager, the Housing Placement Administrator is responsible for delivering accurate, timely, and client‑focused administrative support across the housing placement process. Core responsibilities include:

1. Application Screening & Eligibility Verification

  • Reviews and verifies housing applications and transfer requests for completeness and eligibility.
  • Processes applications in systems such as Rent Café and the Housing Management System, ensuring correct coding and documentation.
  • Prepares and distributes housing information packages to applicants.

2. Data Entry & Documentation Management

  • Enters applicant information, uploads required forms, and maintains accurate digital records.
  • Supports statistical collection, recording, and reporting activities.
  • Assists with quarterly housing file audits to ensure accuracy, compliance, and completeness.

3. Communication & Applicant Support

  • Provides front‑line support by responding to in‑person, phone, and email inquiries from applicants, tenants, and families.
  • Prepares and sends correspondence regarding application status, missing information, and next steps.
  • Coordinates housing interview scheduling across various housing programs.

4. Process Coordination & Administrative Support

  • Performs general clerical, reception, and administrative duties to support the Client and Housing Services team.
  • Collaborates closely with Housing Placement Coordinators to ensure consistent processes and effective information sharing.
  • Completes additional tasks as assigned by the Community Support Manager or other Client and Housing Services leadership.

Experience/Education Preferences:

  • Post Secondary Diploma or Degree, preferably in office administration, social work, human resources or related fields. High school Diploma with extensive experience will be considered.
  • Experience with client management applications and general PC systems, ensuring efficient data entry, retrieval, and reporting.
  • Ability to synthesize data across multiple sources, ensuring comprehensive analysis for decision-making and program improvements.
  • Experience working with seniors is an asset.
  • Strong English communication skills are required, both written and verbal.
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills, including proficiency in Excel, Word, Teams, and Outlook for managing records and correspondence.
  • Excellent customer service skills, ensuring professional communication and responsiveness when assisting applicants and addressing inquiries.
  • Ability to work independently and with a team to coordinate multiple projects in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines.
  • Highly proficient in written and verbal communication, ensuring clarity in application processing, housing placements, and correspondence with applicants and stakeholders.
